Hi everyone, still very busy here. today we thought we would like to warn people out there about the massive market in electrics and camera equipment on Ebay with warranties.
Back in August we needed a quick replacement lens for a special job and for speed chose to use Ebay as a quick fix. We careful chose an item with full Nikon warranty that was brand New.
Little did we know that when the lens went faulty shortly after purchase we would be in broiled in a legal problem. We sent the lens to Nikon and hoped to receive it back shortly with out a problem.
After no sight of it coming back i personal rang there dept that dealt with repairs etc and was shock to found out they will not touch it with out original receipt from dealer.
Promptly asking about the type of receipt accepted they told me that if an item was purchased in an auction or on a auction site like Ebay this would void the warranty.
I was not amused so contacted the seller on Ebay and even spent a long time talking to them on the phone, who promptly said leave it with me i will refund you the cost of new len tonight and i will deal with Nikon to get lens back.
Well that was nearly 3 days ago and no sight of refund or lens. but then while i wait i receive confirmation about Nikon states at present.
You guess it they need the original receipt in 21 days otherwise we will be billed for repairs.
So at present we have sent a valid paypal receipt in a hope that this might change there minds but at present it seems we not only paid the seller on ebay for the privilege of a faulty lens but will have to pay to get the lens back.
The lesson we have learned and hopefully yourselves is don't use ebay to get an item with warranty because should anything go wrong you may find that the protection you thought you had is not worth the paper it was written on unless you have received a VAT receipt separate from the dealer on Ebay.
We have researched this matter and found that not only is Nikon stating a void of warranty on Auction Sites like Ebay but Pentax, Panasonic, Sony, Hoover, you name it the list is too long to mention them all.
My question which is not answered is this just a way for the manufacture to get out of a warranty or is it a valid concern that most consumers do not know that this will happen before they purchase.
We have found on Ebay loads of supplies of equipment and when asked is the warranty valid as it was purchased via Ebay or an auction they all state yes. So do they not know or are we as consumers being conned.
We leave our thoughts with you and can only state BUYER BEWARE. we will keep you informed on any updates
so join us next time

Problems with Website updates - 10th September 2007
Well the kids are back at school now which means we are back in the field with the camera's again from Tuesday. this week will be the Derbyshire dales, hopefully the weatherman has got it right and we are going to have a lovely day.
We have been busy sorting out our new revamp website but have more little twicks to done so please bear with us.
Lots of you have commented on our site and also brought to our attention that not all our thumbnails are not working. We are in the process of sorting this out and hopefully by Friday it will be working like a dream.
We will be out of the office as usual Tuesday and Wednesday and back in the field. No phones where we go, just a camera and plenty of peace and quiet, life could not be simpler.
Keep your comments coming in
see you next time
